| Details: | SUMMARY: Low Chlorine Residual DETAILS: The Northwest Newberg Water District is located adjacent to the City of Newberg and purchases finished water from the City. The District serves 200 people through 62 connections. Water from the City flows through the distribution system and through a master meter to connect to the District. The Circuit Rider was contacted by Ron Dingman due to low chlorine residuals present in the District’s water distribution system. The residuals have approached non-detect levels. A previous effort was made in September 2013 to resolve the low chlorine residuals. As recent as the middle of December 2013, the District was still recording 0.0 residual levels in portions of the distribution system. Contacted city engineer and operations staff at the City of Newberg regarding the low chlorine residual. The City of Newberg reviewed its records and found adequate chlorine levels near the intertie with the district. Provided recommendations to the district regarding frequent monitoring throughout the system, including near the intertie. Also recommended flushing to move water through the mains. ACTION NEEDED: Provide additional recommendations as needed. This could include booster chlorination or a flushing program. | ||
