Details: | Assistance Provided: The circuit rider made a site visit on 11/13/2020 to assess the issues. The water system has a new well that is pumping into the existing distribution and pressure system. There is no hammer arrestor or pressure tank local to the new well, and the hammer generated when the well pump turns on/off is causing line breaks throughout the mobile home park. It is recommended that either a “soft-start” be installed to ramp up/down the pump motor starts, or a small pressure tank be added local to the new well pump to minimize the hammer effect. The sediment and colored water that the users are experiencing is most likely due to sediment introduced to the system after line breaks. We recommend that the system be thoroughly flushed after line break repairs to minimize the amount of sediment/color in the distribution system. It was noted that the new well pump has the ability to push water through the older pump when the older pump is not in use. We recommend that a check valve be installed between the effluent side of the old pump and the pressure tank in the old pump well house. This is also a possible cause of sediment/color in the water. During the site visit, G. McPherson called their well pump vendor to discuss the circuit rider’s findings and advice on the proposed path forward. Follow-Up Actions Needed: The circuit rider can provide further assistance as needed. |
