Details: | SUMMARY: Recent TC+ Alert & updated water system info DETAILS: Our contact information was quite out of date for this system, which was listed as "Inactive" in our state database since 2001. We had not received any routine coliform testing results for years. Left a message for Yogi Yee of USFS on Monday 6/30/14. He replied by email the next day, and I called him back today to confirm the water system information. It appears this system was listed as "Inactive" because it does not have enough people to be considered a public system. However, USFS has continued to provide water there. They only get 3 or 4 groups a season, and it caters to groups on horseback, etc. Yogi says it is common that late in the season when the water table drops, they start getting TC+ results, and then they shut off the water. Because of ongoing drought conditions, Yogi believes this happened several weeks earlier than usual this summer. Therefore, the site is currently closed and signed as non-potable water - any users must boil the water before consuming. USFS is not likely to lift that restriction until next year when conditions improve. ACTION NEEDED: Reduce the population number for this water system. Remind USFS or their contractor that routine coliform tests from this site should not be submitted to the lab on public water system forms. | ||
