Details: | SUMMARY: Update on lead and copper actions DETAILS: In July, Landon got more funds to find and cap off more old plumbing lines (that remain attached to active lines). He was also planning to install the caustic soda corrosion control treatment, but I am not sure it is worth the money if deleting more inactive lines from the system will do the trick. However, he says some lines are under a concrete slab, so he cannot check on those, hence the possibility that they might still have to treat. I informed him that Plan Review would be required for installing new treatment. He is making a push to finish the plumbing line project in the next couple weeks. We determined it is time to re-issue the Public Education piece (every 12 mo). Landon states that there was decision (school district wide) to serve water with all meals, so staff at Eddyville are wondering whether they can open school if they still have a water quality problem. I stated that their regulatory status (with regard to people drinking the water) is exactly the same as last school year. ACTION NEEDED: Landon will re-issue the lead public education notice to staff and school. I will consult with other Drinking Water staff about some of his other concerns. |
