Details: | SUMMARY: Lead and Copper Investigation DETAILS: The Kidco Head Start-Sunnyside is a Head Start school east of Sweet Home. The school has 50 students and staff. Water is supplied by a single well. There is a small treatment system which treats for arsenic (titanium oxide filter) and taste/odor (activated carbon). The Circuit Rider was contacted following a significant lead and copper result in 2/2014. The lead and copper result was from the classroom furthest from the water source. This excursion followed a very cold weather period when there were water breaks. It was reported that water in the classroom sink was significantly discolored. It is thought that water from an old line was making its way into the school. Inspected the water system where it is apparent that there likely are old water line running to an old building pad (the building has been abandoned). Recommended that the school hire a location service to locate the old water pipe which may be causing the issue. ACTION NEEDED: Once the old water lines have been located, review the possibility of abandoning these lines. |
