Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up on chlorobenzene detect in tank outlet DETAILS: I spoke to Derick about the 0.0007 mg/L detection of chlorobenzene from the 9/22/14 sample at the effluent of the Halsey #1 reservoir. This is above the detection limit of 0.0005 mg/L, but below the MCL of 0.10 mg/L. City feels the source of the detect may be a byproduct of the coal tar lining of the Halsey #1 reservoir, which was the reason DWS recommended an annual VOC sample at this location. ACTION NEEDED: 1.) City to begin quarterly monitoring for chlorobenzene from Halsey #1 tank effluent beginning with 4th quarter 2014 to determine any seasonal variability and to monitor for any increases in the level, 2.) DWS to review levels of chlorobenzene and communicate any follow up requirements to the City. 3.) City to report chlorobenzene detect in 2014 Consumer Confidence Report, as it is a regulated compound. 4.) DWS recommends that City continue annual summertime VOC sampling from tank effluent. 5.) DWS and City to continue to research cause of detect and discuss options to address the tank lining as the source of VOC detects. 6.) DWS recommends City report future detectable levels of unregulated compounds in finished water in CCR. |
