Details: | SUMMARY: Positive e. coli positive for sample date 7/8/14 DETAILS: Contacted the system operator to let her know about the positive e. coli sample. I let her know that the system would need to onto a boil notice. She had a total coliform template but did not have boil template. She does not have a computer or fax so I let her know I would drive out with boil templates & FAQ for boil water info sheets. The source sample was absent for e. coli & total coliform. I let her know that the distribution system needs to be disinfected. She indicated that she still had the disinfection for well & dist. system instructions that I had provided her back in 2010. I let her know that the would work for e.coli as well. I gave the operator the public notice templates & let her know what she needed to fill out before providing to the customers. She indicated that she had already verbally notified the users on the system (6 connections). The operator indicated that the system would be disinfected & flushed over the weekend. I let her know that once the chlorine is out of the system they will want to take a couple of special samples to verify that the disinfection worked. I asked her to send a completed public notice template to this office. The operator indicated that there was some concern as to a septic system up the hill from the water system. I let her know that Water Environment Services has jurisdiction of onsite waste water. I gave operator the phone number for WES. ACTION NEEDED: Obtain copy of completed public notice. Follow up with operator regarding special sample results to lift the boil advisory. |
