Details: SUMMARY: Water Quality ALERT: COLI13346 from 9/28 sample DETAILS: Phone discussion followed by email: Take 4 REPEAT samples as soon as practicalIf any of the 4 show presence of bacteria then public notice is required.Take 1 sample prior to any treatment – usually from the faucet nearest the well. This is a TRIGGERED ASSESSMENT sample.In the month of October take 5 TEMPORARY ROUTINE SAMPLESIf any of the 5 show presence of bacteria then public notice is required (if you have not already been required to provide it)By the time you take these 5 samples all problems should be fixed. If they are not fixed and a sample shows bacteria present, the state will tell you to go back to the 4REPEAT samples and then another 5TEMPS. Try to make the fix before doing the 5TEMPS in order to get off the merry go round.For a small system you are allowed to take all 4REPEATS at the same time and from only 1 or 2 taps.And you are allowed to take all 5TEMPS at the same time and from only 1 or 2 taps.If you are interested in extra sampling to identify problems you can mark lab slips as SPECIAL. You don’t get credit for taking these samples, but if you any of the 5TEMPS shows presence of coliform, the state will be after you to take at least 9 more samples.Thank you for confirming that a notice has been posted about use of the water even though its typically not consumed.You have a nitrate sample due before the end of 2014.If any of the 4REPEATS or 5TEMPS show coliform or e. coli the attached public notice is what you are supposed to use. It does not quite fit a church situation. Minor changes are ok to make. ACTION NEEDED: See attached documents regarding follow up samples.
