Details: | SUMMARY: Quarterly nitrate sample tested at 8.1 ppm DETAILS: I spoke to Chris about the recent nitrate test results. I asked which well they were operating on when the sample was taken, he stated well #1. I asked if they were going to test well #2 to see if the levels were lower and if so switch to well #2. Chris stated that well #1 has a better flow rate. He stated that the first week of December they would run a special sample on well #1 as it does tend to dilute when the we get steady rain. If it tested at this level again they would look at testing well #2 and switch if it tested at a lower level. I asked Chris to keep in contact with me about the special sample results. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to monitor testing. I would like to have discussion about considering ion-exchange treatment. Mark Elledge has not wanted to consider treat with ion-exchange, however the Waldorf School who exceeded the MCL two years ago was required to install treatment and has great success with significantly reducing the level of nitrate in their system. Both systems are within one mile of each other. The Farm Home Campus has not exceeded the MCL for nitrate but it may be just a matter of time before it does. | ||
