Details: | SUMMARY: Lead and Copper Issues DETAILS: The Eddyville Charter School has a groundwater water system that serves approximately 200 students and staff. The October 2011 lead and copper tests resulted in lead levels over the EPA Action Level with copper levels approaching the Action Level (but not exceeding). The Circuit Rider was briefly contacted by Mr. Lightle to discuss the possibility of fixture replacement. Subsequently, it was made known by County Staff that the school’s existing corrosion control system may not have been in operation. Previously completed preliminary recommendations report, however, the presence of high iron levels make it necessary to develop an iron removal strategy before moving forward with any corrosion control changes. Corresponded with Amy Chapman and Betsy Parry regarding current course of action being followed by the school. Discussions also centered on the value of pipe replacement in for lead and copper abatement. ACTION NEEDED: Further assist school and Lincoln County with solutions for both corrosion control and iron treatment, as needed. |
