Details: | SUMMARY: Water Quality complaint to DEQ Leaking Underground Storage Tank program. DETAILS: Eric Kelley from the DEQ Leaking Underground Storage Tank (LUST) program e-mailed me to find out if we have information about iron bacteria problems with the water system. I confirmed that the water system operator stated that they have iron bacteria problems since I talked with the water operator on January 28 when I was onsite to inspect his septic system. Eric asked me about the system testing for petroleum products. This is the first time I heard that the site had underground storage tanks so I asked Eric if the site is still an open case. He said that the owner of the property is required to have a contractor assess and mitigate the site in terms of soil testing. In terms of water testing, Eric is going to investigate and have samples either taken by the operator or by DEQ to determine if there is a problem since they received a complaint. Eric stated that the initial assessment did not appear to indicate that there was a ground water issue. I will contact Carrie Gentry to determine what the course of action is from the County or OHA drinking water program. ACTION NEEDED: Keep in contact with DEQ. |
