| Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up on contamination event - 2 houses DETAILS: Jim called at 1230 pm as a sewer line had broken and contaminated the water meter box at 2 homes near Washington Way. As a result of the fecal contamination, the City is issuing a localized boil water notice to both homes today, as the contamination is limited to these 2 connections. We discussed the following general response to the situation: Fix the problem causing the contamination, restore service to homes, ensure chlorinated water is getting to the homes, flush out any of the contaminated water from affected area, and collect coliform sample(s). If samples are coliform absent, boil notice may be lifted from 2 homes with direction to residents to flush household plumbing. ACTION NEEDED: City to follow general steps today, samples are being taken to the lab, Jim expects results over the weekend, when he will contact DWS for the next steps including any lifting of the boil notice. I provided DWS after hours phone number to Jim. | ||
