Details: | - 03.16.21 - After several attempts to contact Lisa over the phone, I sent her an email informing her that on March 10th, I received the letter sent on behalf of the users of Anderson Mountain Spring. In this letter the users are requesting to be removed from the water monitoring requirements of a public water system. Based on the current number of connections, the system remains a public water system under the classification of a State Regulated public water system. A State Regulated Water System means a public water system, which serves 4 to 14 service connections, or serves 10 to 24 people. To be removed from this classification Anderson Mountain would have to reduce the number of houses connected to their water systems to 3 connections. Recent source water samples collected on January 6th and February 8th, confirmed the presence of E. Coli, an indicator of fecal contamination in the source water. Due to the health risks associated to water contaminated with E. Coli, the source water is currently considered unsafe to drink. A letter from Rick Hallmark with Coos Health and Wellness and also a letter from our Drinking Water Services office were mailed to Lisa several weeks ago. Both letters provided instructions on the steps the system must follow to address this issue and by doing so, preventing potential illnesses that could result from consuming water contaminated with E. Coli. The most urgent action required at this time is for the operator to issue a boil water public notice. A copy of the public notice must be received by the State Drinking Water Services by 03/16/2021. The notice must remain in place until the microbiological contamination issue has been resolved or until they provide us with the information we need to determine if treatment (4-log inactivation of viruses) is provided. Lisa was advised to contact Rick Hallmark. |
