| Details: | SUMMARY: Monthly Assessment Monitoring Requirement DETAILS: I was contacted by Doug Mallory regarding the monthly assessment monitoring requirement for SRC-BA, Well #2 as per June 23, 2015 notification letter. Doug was concerned about costs associated with transporting monthly samples to the lab and requested that the sampling requirement be reduced from monthly to quarterly. I informed him that we dont allow quarterly monitoring because e.coli may only be present for a few weeks at a time and that monthly sampling is standard for groundwater sources that are susceptible to fecal contamination and are also applying a disinfectant. I also mentioned that we would accept the 4 consecutive monthly samples that were collected Feb through May 2010 as partially fulfilling the current monitoring requirement. Doug said that due to time and costs associated with having to transport the samples 100 miles one way to the lab, he would have to contact the water system owner and close the water system. I mentioned that historically a couple of water systems had closed after being required to conduct the monitoring but that we could not reduce the monitoring requirement to quarterly. Doug informed me that he would be contacting the water system owner about closing the water system. Following the conversation I contacted Bill Goss and Kari Salis and informed them of my conversation with Doug. ACTION NEEDED: None needed. | ||
