| Details: | SUMMARY: 3 of 5 confirmation samples returned positive for e-coli DETAILS: I spoke to the hatchery manger and Russ Kazmeirczak in the Springfield office. Russ supplied all the necessary information to follow-up with the hatchery for confirmed e-coli. A boil water notice for the source water was posted. I conducted a field review on 8/13/15 and noted several potential contamination sources. A well evaluation was requested to Shawn Stevenson the Region 2 Hydrogeologist. The best approach until the well evaluation is complete was to start working towards compliance monitoring. A CT evaluation was conducted. A residual of .2 ppm or higher was determined to meet 4 - log inactivation of viruses. The residual at the first user was measured at .8 ppm. The hatchery manager was notified to keep a daily log and take a distribution sample that must return clean before the notice could be removed. ACTION NEEDED: Write the hatchery manger a compliance letter to explain all the details for compliance monitoring. Wait for distribution sample results. | ||
