Details: | SUMMARY: conference call re: crypto removal listening session DETAILS: People on conference call:Amy WordKari SalisBill Goss Russ KazmierzcakDave Wildman and Ed Hibbard, Anderson & PerryGary Chamberlain, Patti Cruz, Jim Harrison from City of RichlandThis meeting was to make sure everyone is on the same page regarding cryptosporidium requirements and to offer a chance to ask questions and have discussion on options. Dave stated the City does not have a lot of resources to do a large detailed study, and feel UV may be the likely result anyway. Russ discussed some past riverbank filtration studies. Dave noted that other studies have shown that groundwater is flowing towards the creek, and the infiltration gallery feeds the city by gravity. Some options were discussed, such as cutting off a section of the IG closer to the river, redoing the MPA testing, UV, riverbank filtration study. A discussion was held about whether crypto was present in the water, and the regulatory requirements, but also the effectiveness of UV treatment. Dave and Russ suggested seasonal (wet and dry) testing of a number of crypto surrogates to see how much removal is occurring, no soil analysis is necessary, and the possibility of UV treatment. The city will work with their consultant to develop a proposal to comply with the crypto requirement. ACTION NEEDED: develop plan to address Crypto treatment requirement, submit to DWS for approval - once approved then proceed as agreed - final timeline for treatment installation or credit is 12/31/2017 |
