Details: SUMMARY: Positive Total Coliform Wed 4th DETAILS: RE: the sample - Since the pump guy was going to meet Jim out at the source at 8 am, so Jim took the sample way earlier than normal and had delivered it by 7:18AM to the communal water testing box at the water treatment plant in Newport. He was the first water in the cooler and there was no ice in the cooler. Could have sat for some time with no ice.New pump was installed on in one of the sources. The well was sanitized before pump install finished.Was gaining 10" per 12 hours on Friday. Tank was supposed to be filled by MondayMonday night was tank was down 10" from initial measurement on SundayPump that was in the third stream was a 110 sump pump.Shut valve off, backflow valve was not working. So all tank water was being pushed back into the line, into the 3rd source and over flowing into the river.A 220V pump was installed, as per original specs, but no backflow preventer installed yet. Pump supposedly has one.Jim will install a backflow preventer in the line soon.Jim cleaned all spring with a bleach mixture per State document recommendations.Plans to take repeat samples tomorrow. One at same site, one upstream, one downstream and one at the source. Individual sources can not be tested only the combined source. ACTION NEEDED: none
