Details: | SUMMARY: Corrosion Control Update DETAILS: I spoke to Matt Johnson from the City of Amity wanting to know if they needed to complete a 4th round of lead and copper monitoring from 20 sites. The system had been placed on a 6-month monitoring frequency since exceeding the copper action level in November of 2013. Matt also had questions about a letter he received from our office about the open plan review (PR 87-2012) for corrosion control. He said that they had begun using soda ash again, which had been disconnected in the past, but did not have plans to purchase or install any new equipment. I requested that they complete the fourth round of monitoring and to measure pH in two locations in the distribution system at the time they took the lead and copper tap samples, since distribution pH had not been measured for the previous 3 rounds. I told Matt that I would review the file and available data and get back to him on what would be required to resolve the copper action level exceedance. On 11/19/15 Matt e-mailed pH measurements of 7.0 at 109 Getchell Ave and 7.1 at 401 E 3rd Ave and to let me know that 17 of the 20 tap samples had already been completed. ACTION NEEDED: City to complete 4th round of lead and copper tap samples from 20 sites and submit results. DWS to evaluate results and notify City of further actions needed to resolve the copper action level exceedance. |
