Details: | SUMMARY: Chlorine Level in Reservoir DETAILS: The City of Amity owns and operates a surface water treatment system. The water system serves 1460 persons through 600 connections. Matt Johnson contacted the Circuit Rider due to low chlorine residuals intermittently leaving the water reservoirs. The City of Amity has a reservoir park which contains three reservoirs of varying age (160,000, 225,000 and 540,000 gallons respectively). In early September 2015, city staff noticed lower than normal chlorine residuals in the distribution system. Investigation of the reservoirs revealed that the chlorine residual in the two smaller reservoirs was just 0.2 mg/L. The residual in the 540,000 gallon reservoir was 0.0 mg/L. The City took the 540,000 gallon tank out of service pending an investigation of the issue. Met with City staff. Reviewed configuration of reservoirs and valving. Provided a report proposing both short term and long term solutions for the reservoir mixing issues. ACTION NEEDED: None needed at this time. |
