Details: | Background/Problem Identification: The circuit rider was contacted by Michelle Byrd on November 17th of 2020 in regard to lead testing issues and corrosion control alternatives for BRPWD. Assistance Provided: The circuit rider made a site visit on December 4th, 2020 to assess the system and to discuss testing to determine the best method of corrosion control. Water quality data was further collected via email and phone calls with BRPWD. Follow-Up Actions Needed: Based on the water quality parameters taken from two rounds of testing and the EPA’s OCCT flowchart “1b”, the preferred method for corrosion control at BRPWD is injection of soda ash to raise pH. Note that the pH of 8.3 from 12/08/20 is struck through, we believe this to be an anomalous reading. Two pH readings separated by an hour apart were taken on 1/22/21 to confirm, both readings were 7.6. Please see a matrix of the latest WQPs below: The WTP at BRPWD is already plumbed for a chemical injection port. All that would be necessary to bring the soda ash online would be to install a suitable sized pump, tank, and mixer. The pump would need to be installed to operate off of either a switched outlet or a flowmeter that outputs flow data to facilitate flow matching between the pump and plant’s output flowrate. Technical Reports to be Prepared and Expected Timeframe: The circuit order can assist further if needed to bring the corrosion control online. |
