Assistance Type: | CIRCUIT RIDER ASSISTANCE | ||
Details: | Background/Problem Identification: Dan Perkins requested assistance with making some plant process improvements and possibly advise on funding opportunities. The system is also looking to add standby power. Assistance Provided: The circuit rider made a site visit on December 11th, 2020 to assess the system and to discuss several issues facing the water system: • Sizing for a back-up generator set • Treatment process improvements • Funding assistance Based off the existing electrical loads (duplex 3HP pumps, a single 5HP pump, and ancillary equipment needed to run the WTP) our recommendation is that an absolute minimum generator size would be 20kW, with 30kW being the preferred and more conservative alternative. As far as treatment process improvements, we recommend a streaming turbidity meter on the raw water that is switched either via PLC or SCADA to shut down the WTP in the event that the raw water is in excess of a pre-selected turbidity. We recommend a dedicated test line be installed off of the main intake and a laser turbidity meter such as the Hach TU5 be employed. The circuit rider has provided the water system with contact information to several sources of hazard mitigation funding. The circuit rider can provide further, more detailed funding support in a subsequent assistance request as needed. Follow-Up Actions Needed: The circuit rider is available for follow-up assistance as needed. Technical Reports to be Prepared and Expected Timeframe: N/A |
