Details: | SUMMARY: Boil Water Notice Needed Due to Loss of Pressure DETAILS: The operator of the system called co April 11. I was out so he was asked to contact Michelle Byrd at the State if he needed information. The operator never made that contact. I received call from the Sherman Co Court House that they had no water pressure approx. 9: 30AM on Tuesday. I contacted the operator for follow-up. He was doing assessment of the reservoir leak repair (Emery and Sons) and drained the tank. The upper portion of the distribution system was without water. I asked if he had done a Boil Water notice and he thought he did not have to issue one. I assured him that he did have to due to loss of pressure. I directed him to the State website but he had said he could not find the info. I emailed the form to him and asked that he post this info immediately. I also sent info on what activities can be done without boiling water first, all of this can be found on the State website but there is some resistance for this operator to use the source. Through multiple phone conversations I sent various info. I cautioned him on the correct process for discharging chlorinated water. I sent him info on the AWWA guidelines for disinfection and worked through the guide with him. The operator pulled samples from distribution prior to placing the reservoir on line.Waiting for results of testing. ACTION NEEDED: Provision for adding chlorine to the system from at least the Cemetery well. Operator needs to have knowledge of the info available on the State drinking water web site. Should have SOP and ERP for dealing with outages and notification of NCPHD. |
