| Details: | Tim reported that the chlorine pump at the treatment plant failed this morning. 500,000 gal of unchlorinated water went into the transmission line. There are no users until after Franzen reservoirs, so they plan to monitor the line and flush the unchlorinated water to waste. Only one of their two transmission lines was in operation, but they will also check the other to be sure there is no unchlorinated water there. They are also able to monitor for chlorine at several locations, so if they miss some, they can chlorinate as the water goes in to Franzen reservoir. He will call DWS if that occurs. Either way, no improperly treated water will go to customers. Update 4/28/2021 1130: City was able to isolate transmission pipelines and operate blow offs to remove non-chlorinated water. Chlorine residual at 1st user was 1.1 mg/L and transmission pipelines are now back in service. |
