Details: | SUMMARY: complaint investigation DETAILS: We received a complaint last week from a resident who preferred to remain anonymous regarding the drinking water temperature never getting cold. The complainant thinks their water is warmer than normal and may possibly be due to a well being used to "mix" with city of Sweet home water. Foster Lake mobile RV community is currently an inactive PWS since 2011 and receives their drinking water from the city of Sweet Home. I contacted the city of Sweet home and asked them to investigate a possible cross-connection to a well on-site. D.J. Fox responded by visiting the site on 8/19/16, collecting a coliform sample, checking the chlorine residual value and looking for any cross-connection hazards. The chlorine residual was 0.61 mg/L, the coliform sample was absent and no cross-connections hazards were found. I also asked the city for details on the water meter usage and they confirmed Foster lake Mobile RV community uses a significant amount of water, on par with an average RV park of the same size, with an increased use, almost double used in summer months indicating this water system may not be supplementing city water with well water. I spoke with the complainant twice at length and concluded that the warm water temperature is likely due to the extreme heat advisory we have been having lately. No other similar complaint were received. Without the complainants full name and exact location of residence, Linn County Env. Health would not investigate further. The complainant was very concerned about getting evicted and did not want to give us any more info that would identify them. Without the complainants exact address further follow-up consisting of testing the complainants service line for chlorine residual or adding a tracer to the well water cannot occur. ACTION NEEDED: none at this time. |
