Details: | SUMMARY: Loss of Water Pressure, Boil Water Notice Required DETAILS: I was due to survey the system this morning. Debbie notified me by e-mail that there was a loss of pressure. It was first thought to be an electrical issue but turned out to be a fitting leak. The storage tank had emptied. The survey date will be rescheduled so they could address this issue. They were informed to put out a boil water notice. It was received and will be forwarded to DMCE. I consulted with Russ Kazmierczak. He reminded me that because the system is not disinfected that they will need to shock chlorinate, flush, test for zero residual and sample. Debbie was provided this information. The leak was to be repaired this afternoon.A second issue arose from this contact. The system has a third party contractor conduct their chemical and bacterial sampling. The contractor did not take the lead and copper sample that was due by 9/30. I discussed this with Debbie and the contractor. Due to the loss of pressure a sample could not be taken today. Even if the samples could be taken today, due to the back log labs have with testing lead, I could guarantee the results could be to the state by October 10th.I reviewed the RTC for lead and copper criteria and it would appear they need to meet the compliance schedule. I believe they should test now and then will have to test again in 2017 to be considered for RTC and return to a three year schedule. I need to confirm this with Russ. ACTION NEEDED: Monitor the system for completing the repair, shock chlorination and sampling. Review compliance for late lead and copper sampling. |
