Details: | SUMMARY: Routine sample TC+ and Triggered Assesment EC+ DETAILS: Received an alert for a triggered source sample that tested positive for E. coli. The triggered source sample was collected as part of the repeat sampling that was required after a routine sample tested positive for coliform. Contacted Sarah Puls, Lane County Environmental Health, to discuss how the water system should address the distribution TC+ and triggered source EC+. Informed Sarah that the water system should go on a boil water notice even though the system chlorinates for residual maintenance. The reason the system is being advised to go a boil water notice is due to recent storms which have hit Oregon and resulted in heavy rain and numerous power outages. The water system is also being asked to investigate the cause of the positive samples. DWS Springfield also received a call from Joe Carlson, Compliance and Enforcement Manager, and he also stated that the water system should go on a boil water and conduct an investigation. ACTION NEEDED: Water system to issue a boil water notice, collect five confirmation samples from the source, and investigate the cause for the TC+ distribution sample and EC+ source sample. |
