| Details: | Zero chlorine residual reported in the surface water quality data form on 04.23.21. On 05.17.21 I contacted Jim. He stated that chlorine residual was measured first thing in the morning on 4/23/21. The issue that caused chlorine residual was identified and resolved within two hours. What caused the issues: Apparently the filters were fouled and not allowing enough water for the post-filter pump to work. When flow is less than 3 gpm the pump stops working. With the pump down chlorine level dropped eventually to zero. Corrective Action: The filters were replaced, the post-filter pump turned back on and the chlorine dose temporarily increased. Several water faucets in the distribution system were left open until chlorine residual was back to 0.2 ppm. After minimum required chlorine concentration was measured, the chlorine pump rate was set back to normal. The operator forgot to record the corrected chlorine concentration and CT value once the level was back to 0.2 mg/ L. A tier 2 public notice is not required. |
