Details: | SUMMARY: DBPs and corrective action plan DETAILS: I had notified Jim that their DBP corrective action plan was coming due 3/1/17. He phoned back today, and gave me an idea over the phone what the plan will look like. Their plan is largely the actions they have already implemented - put the settling tanks on a twice-annual cleaning schedule, and lowered the chlorine dose. I explained the plan must give actions and a timeline, which in this case would be mostly documenting what they have already done, since the DBP levels came down in the last quarter, but it should also address what they will do next - monitor the upcoming results and if still a problem… ? Jim also wanted to know when they can have their DBP monitoring schedule reduced again, since their LRAA went below the MCL after their last quarter samples. I looked it up after the call - because they are now on increased monitoring, they need to have 4 consecutive quarters where the LRAAs are not just below the MCL, but a little less than that (below 0.060 mg/L for TTHM and 0.045 mg/L for HAA5) before returning to annual (routine) monitoring. ACTION NEEDED: Review the DBP corrective action plan (due March 1) when Jim sends it in. Notify Jim of the criteria that must be met before their system can come off the increased DBP monitoring schedule. |
