Details: | SUMMARY: Water Tank DETAILS: The water operator was driving back from cleaning the tank himself. The tank had not been cleaned since it was added to the system (1980). He described there being "sediment and deposits in the tank and he added a couple of cups of bleach." I instructed him to contact a professional to clean, inspect, and disinfect the tank on 1/12/17. I asked his process for cleaning the tank. First he removed the lid of the tank and drained it with a sump pump. He placed a sleeping bag on to the edge of the tank as he crawled in. He reported observing only sediment, which he is testing for mineral content, he stated no animals, bugs or observable growth were seen in the tank. He then vacuumed out the sediment then sprayed and scrubbed the sides of the tank with bleach and a brush. The tank was then hosed out and rinsed 3 times with HASA bleach and water. The water that he sprayed with the hose into the tank was from a water spout in distribution at the mobile home park. The bleach and water and sediment was then drained with a sump pump and the tank was filled with water purchased from No Drought in Sweet Home. We contacted No Drought to find out where the water comes from. Spoke to Matt from No Drought and he said he fills the water tanks at the fire hydrant in downtwon Sweet Home. He then added HASA bleach- 1 1/2 cups to the tank. He replaced the screws with stainless steel ones (the old ones showed signs of rusting). The roof to the well house was leaking, he patched it temporarily with plastic. It will be fully repatched when the roof is dry. Analytical Lab is taking his samples, they will take a coliform sample on 1/20/2017. ACTION NEEDED: None. |
