Details: | SUMMARY: Coliform Positive DETAILS: Per Ms. Herbage, immediately following the 3/8/17 sample showing coliform present, in error chlorine was poured into the well and delayed repeat samples until the well was cleared of chlorine. A camera was used to scope the casing and reportedly there were "significant" pieces of casing completely gone. Repeat samples taken on 3/22 showed coliform present in 2/4 samples. Since receiving the sample report, use of the well for the north system has ceased and the well serving system 4100330 (Riveview Village Inc - South) is now in use for the north system too.If the source of contamination is bad well casing, flushing with water from south well will eventually resolve the present coliforms, but this is only a temporary measure due to fear of possibly too much draw on the south well & ownership should recognize use of the single well will cause service to more than 25 individuals & meet the definition for "community water system" thus including additional requirements to follow. Ms. Herbage states that municipal water from the City of Gold Beach might be available to this property as an option.3 routine samples are required in April. Presuming source of contamination is bad well casing, the routine samples taken from the distribution system should show "clean" results. By 4/20, complete the level 1 coliform investigation form and submit to Curry Comm. Hlth or email to R. Hallmark. Evaluate the costs of correcting any issues identified in coliform investigation including bad well casing & compare with costs of alternative water sources. If not logical to change to new water source then move forward efficiently & corrrect issues found in coliform investigation.Advise that Zed who manages the water system consider the live training for operators on 4/27 in Coos Bay.
