Details: | DWS Staff were informed on 6/1/2021 that an algal bloom was observed in a supply source (Hagg Lake) during routine sampling. A sample cyanobacteria cellular density greater than 2 million cells/mL lead to the system taking multiple proactive actions (regular visual reservoir inspections and weekly investigative cyanobacteria/cyanotoxin sampling at both Hagg Lake and the JWC Water Treatment Plant intake in addition to the regulatory intake sample). 6/2/2021 Update: The regulatory intake sample taken 6/1/2021 was determined to be non-detect for Total Microcystins and Cylindrospermopsin. 6/4/2021 Update: Results for investigative toxin samples collected 6/1/2021 along the Hagg Lake shoreline and at the WTP intake were non-detect for both Total Microcystins and Cylindrospermopsin. The intake regulatory sample taken 6/1/2021 was determined to be non-detect for Total Microcystins and Cylindrospermopsin. The investigative toxin samples collected 6/2/2021, in Hagg Lake were non-detect for Total Microcystins and Cylindrospermopsin. 6/11/2021 Update: Results for investigative toxin samples collected 6/9/2021 along the Hagg Lake shoreline and at the WTP intake were non-detect for both Total Microcystins and Cylindrospermopsin. Cyanobacteria were absent of investigative samples collected 6/9/2021, in Hagg Lake and along the shoreline. The system will conduct weekly visual inspections and continue investigative sampling of Hagg Lake every 2 weeks. |
