Details: | SUMMARY: Issued Do Not Drink Notice DETAILS: Glenna issued a Do Not Drink notice because the turbidity reached 10 NTU. This is because the labeling on their coagulant had changed, which resulted in them thinking it was a different coagulant and changing the dosage. That clogged their filters. They phoned the distributer and found out it was the same PAC as before. They have cleaned it all out, and are dialing down the dosage - they can only dial back the feed pump one notch at a time. Once it clears to acceptable levels, they will lift the Do Not Drink notice. Their residents all drinking bottled water so it is not too much inconvenience, but Glenna wanted me to know because this will show up in their monthly treatment report. ACTION NEEDED: Notify DMCE that that notice was issued (no violation will be assigned for a non-EPA system). I also contacted OAWU to see if they would stop by Sleepy Hollow and give feedback on the pre- and post- PSIs reported on the monthly form, and whether they have suggestions on the problem last year when the DW pump went out and they could not service it for weeks while the river level was still high. Their work-around using the irrigation water pump instead resulted in a Boil notice for weeks in 2017. |
