| Details: | SUMMARY: Sudden Loss of Certified Operator DETAILS: Dave Terrusa phoned to say that, due to a stressful and unpleasant working relationship with some current members of the Water District board, he intends to leave as operator/DRC. He wanted to know how he could keep his operator certification intact. I replied that it is the legal responsibility of the Water District to provide safe water under OAR 333-061-0025, which I emailed him. Once he is no longer their DRC, it is not his responsibility. I advised him to protect public health, whatever he decides. Because after he is gone there would be no one to monitor for adequate treatment of the surface water, he was considering either shutting off the plant when he leaves (and the town would run out of water once the storage tanks emptied), or leaving the plant on but issuing a Tier 1 Boil Advisory before leaving. ACTION NEEDED: Our DWS operator certification staff person will contact Dave re: his conerns about protecting his certification/license. Dave will also contact OAWU to see if they could possibly work with the board (several members are leaving the board as well as the operator), or restructure it with new members, etc. Langlois is a member of OAWU. | ||
