Details: | SUMMARY: Review of monitoring and violation history DETAILS: The City was placed on increased monitoring for entry point A (EP-A) due to the addition of well #13 (SRC-AE). Two 6-month rounds of lead and copper tap samples completed in the 2nd half of 2016 and the 1st half of 2017 at the increased number of tap sample sites (40), demonstrated that the results were well below 1/2 the action levels for both lead and copper (both rounds resulted in a non-detect for the lead 90th percentile and the copper 90th percentile results were 0.261 mg/l and 0.219 mg/l). Three radiological (uranium, gross alpha, and radium 226/228) samples taken at SRC-AE (5/8/14, 12/1/15 and 5/4/16) and two samples taken at EP-A (8/25/16 and 3/27/17) showed only one detection of 3.02 pCi/L for gross alpha in the 5/4/16 sample and one detection of radium at 1.3 pCi/L in the 5/8/14 sample. Due to subsequent low level/non-detect sample results, system qualifies for a reduction in lead and copper sampling to once every 3 years from 20 tap samples and a reduction in radiological sampling to once every 9 years, both beginning 1/1/18. ACTION NEEDED: DWS notified Alan Mustain via voice mail and e-mail regarding the monitoring reduction in lead and copper sampling to once every 3 years at 20 tap samples and the reduction in radiological sampling to once every 9 years at EP-A, both beginning 1/1/18. Reporting violations for lead and copper tap sampling for the 1st half of 2017 and radiological sampling for 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarter 2017 were also returned to compliance due to the eventual (late) receipt of sample results and/or the fact that they have sampled sufficiently to capture any seasonal variation that may impact radiological levels. |
