| Details: | SUMMARY: RT Sample Tested Positive for Total Coliform DETAILS: I received a call from Jr. Josh Hopkins, requesting confirmation of the number of RP samples needed after receiving the TC+ result. When asked about a possible reason for the TC+, the operator believes it has to do with the low volume of water usage they have had at the park in the last month. Operator was also concerned about not getting any reading of free chlorine levels in the distribution system. ACTION NEEDED: Operator was instructed to collect 3 RP samples: one upstream, one downstream and one at the site that tested positive. An additional sample of source (raw) water must be collected and labeled as triggered sample - TG. I suggested flushing fresh water through the entire water system by opening faucets, valves, etc. Check the chlorinator function and recheck free chlorine levels in the distribution system. I also reminded Mr. Hopkins to start recording the chlorine level on the laboratory form with each monthly coliform sample and in addition to this, he should check and record the chlorine residual level in the distribution at least twice a week - keep these records. I emailed the operator a template they can use to record levels of residual chlorine in the system. | ||
