Details: | 07.22.21 – Coagulant supply shortage Steve Pennington reported having only enough coagulant for one more day. He is planning to post a voluntary boilwater advisory if they run out of coagulant. The system ordered coagulant on July 1 st. The coagulant arrived at a shipping center in Portland on July 13. The shipping company has not been able to move the product. The coagulant (ISOPAC) used by the system is manufactured by Waterhouse Environmental Services. A representative from this company suggested using ISOPAC 806 as a substitute. The City of Coquille is the closest water system using ISOPAC 806. I contacted Gary Dagit, one of the DRCs at the City of Coquille PWS. Gary agreed to provide one or two pails of ISOPAC 806. This should last several weeks. Waterhouse Environmental Services offered to credit back Coquille with the amount of coagulant they gave to Garden Valley. Gary offered to help Steve determine the optimum dosage of ISOPAC 806. No negative effects on lead and copper concentrations are expected from the use of ISOPAC 806. Additional sampling for lead and copper are not needed at this time. |
