| Details: | Background/Problem Identification: Timber Water Association (TWA) owns and operates a surface water system that provides treated water for domestic purposes to a population of approximately 180 persons. Due to the recent issue in sodium hypochlorite availability, Chris Heidt reached out to the circuit rider for assistance in selection of a potential alternate disinfection method. Assistance Provided: The circuit rider worked with Chris Heidt and several equipment suppliers to find an alternate replacement for the current liquid sodium hypochlorite solution-based disinfection method. The circuit rider investigated several different options, with a brine-based hypochlorite generation system being the most feasible. However, even the smallest of these systems were over budget in initial capital outlay for a small system like TWA.
