| Details: | 09.30.21 - Elk River hatchery source confirmed EC positive. Regional hydrogeologist completed a groundwater source evaluation and determined that source was E. Coli contaminated at the end of March 2021. During the additional source monitoring the well has continued to have E. coli detections and every sample over the past 5 months has been total coliform positive. The source of contamination has not been eliminated and the water system shall move forward with corrective actions. Next steps: The system must conduct a Microscopic Particulate analysis (MPA) to determine if the source is under the direct influence of surface water (GWUDI). The operator will be receiving the MPA requirement letter with instructions and information on certified labs that can perform an MPA analysis. Now that well is confirmed E. Coli contaminated, Ryan was informed that he can stop collecting monthly assessment samples. A request was made with DMCE to update to close out the assessment monitoring schedule. System will continue with 4 log disinfection by always maintaining no less than 0.8 mg/l chlorine in the distribution system. |
