| Details: | Called Don Treanor in response to receiving an alert today regarding an e-coli positive after their routine monthly sampling on the 7th. He told me that he will just shock the reservoir again (he performed this action following the last months positive) and that it needs time to travel through but should be fine. I responded that this may be a good action to make sure that e-coli wont harm anyone right now, but there may be larger issues with the system noted by the positives two months in a row. An investigation should help direct him to looking at all aspects of why there might be coliform positives. I mentioned that the chlorine residuals noted by box r water in sampling is very low, from 0.01-0.10. He said he puts the chemical in when he checks the chlorine residual in the system that tells him chlorine is in there, but he didn't check the number today. I told him we need to check the number, because the chlorinator might be dosing too light, not achieving 0.20-0.40. Shaniko received a coliform positive last month at their spring as well as in distribution, which triggered a level 1 investigation. I asked Don if he has completed the level 1 yet and he said no, he hasn't completed it and hasn't checked the mail for the city where the paperwork is. I reminded him again that it is due this Sunday on the 17th and that I would help him complete it if needed. He said he will do it. I asked him to call box r water to perform repeat samples because he doesn't have test bottles. I told him to give them my number to confirm the sampling needed, although I did tell him we needed a sample at each source, and three in distribution. He said he would do that. |
