| Details: | I am writing this letter as a reminder that the City of Shaniko needs to establish a certified operator to supervise the drinking water operations and maintenance. Trained and certified operators are necessary to ensure that the systems are managed in a manner that fully protects public health and the environment. Small water systems need an operator with a ‘Small Water Operator Training Course’ (SWOTC) certificate, which can be obtained by attending the free trainings provided by Oregon Association of Water Utilities. Please follow up with our office if you need assistance finding the schedule and registration information of classes provided by OAWU this year. To establish yourself as the certified operator of Shaniko please provide: • Filled out application which is enclosed with this letter, • Small Water Operator Training Course (SWOTC) certificate • You will need to provide your social on the application form • A copy of their high school diploma or transcript/GED certificate/higher education diploma or transcript.
