Details: | 12.14.2021- Jim reports that the plant is back online. The turbidity level from the Clarifier was within working limits. Waste was filtered until the turbidity level from the filters were below 0.08 NTUs and then put the filters back online. 12.13.2021 - Jim reported that they were not in the building today when they had an incident where treated water turbidity levels spiked above normal. Jim reported that the issue was caused by a programming error in the SCADA-streaming current meter. The Alum pumps didn’t have the pump speeds entered, so when SCADA switched from one pump to the other due to rising turbidity, the second pump was severely under dosing. This in turn caused an upset in the clarifier, causing the filters to not work properly. The highest turbidity reading at the CFE was 0.274 NTUs and the highest reading at one of the IFE was 0.288 NTUs. The incident lasted less than 2 hours. The operator shut the plant down to assess the problem, and found the error. pumps were calibrated so when they switch from one to the other it will be a smooth transition. The filter basin inlets were opened to allow the water from the clarifier to go to the backwash ponds to exchange the water in the clarifier without impacting the filters. No public notice is required since turbidity was measured below triggers. |
