Details: Called and left a message for Keith Hill, water system operator, informing him of the arsenic exceedance at one (residential hall) of the 54 point of use devices. Requested that he call back tomorrow to discuss OIT's response to the exceedance and provide a copy of their procedure for sampling after a MCL exceedance. Mr. Hill was also informed that the water system will need to complete quarterly monitoring after the POU device is replaced. Mr. Hill will also need to post public notice at the POU location that exceeded the MCL.

Update 1/12/22: Contacted Keith hill again regarding MCL exceedance at the residence hall. Mr.Hill indicated that the violation occurred at the Residence Hall Point of Entry (POE)treatment system. He indicated that as soon as he was notified of the violation on December 15, 2021, he had his assistant back-flush the two filters and collect a new sample on the same day. The sample result for the December 15, 2021 is posted online (see https://yourwater.oregon.gov/arsenic.php?pwsno=93997) and the result was 0.00338 mg/L and is below the MCL. The sampling procedure for arsenic and public notice was also discussed and Mr. Hill indicated he would draft a sampling procedure and provide a copy for our records. He also will send a copy of their public notice for the exceedance. The water system will remain on quarterly at the Residence Hall POE location until the system is reliably and consistently below the MCL. The next quarterly sample will be due before the end of March.
