Details: SUMMARY: Quarterly nitrate results DETAILS: Roger called to report that his quarterly nitrate results for 3rd quarter were 10.0 mg/L at Well #1 (their primary source) and 6.8 mg/L at Well #2 (their back-up well). Since 10.0 mg/L does not exceed the MCL of 10 mg/L, no further follow-up is required. The system is currently using Well #2, but would like to switch back to Well #1. The system will continue monitoring quarterly. I did recommend they collect a confirmation sample at Well #1 since it was so close to exceeding the MCL, but it is not required by the rule. I referred Roger to Dan Moreno at Benton County for future assistance. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to watch quarterly nitrate results. Notify DEQ of results since this system does appear to be within the Groundwater Management Area.
