| Details: | SUMMARY: Interim and long-term protective measures DETAILS: I was asked to be on a conference call in Tom Charbonneaus absense. Barb, Melissa, and Paul Cieslak were also present (from Epi). We contacted Greg via conference call to discuss what to do regarding the water system. Since the water has not been ruled out as the possible source of the outbreak, I advised them to continue with the batch chlorination of the well. They had stopped over the weekend, but Greg said there was still a residual from when they chlorinated the tank last. He said he would tell them to continue at a target of 1.0 ppm. I also advised that they should consider the possibility of a continuous chlorinator. Also, since Dennis agreed the well is improperly constructed, the long term solution (regardless of whether or not water was the cause of the outbreak) is to reconstruct the wel. Currently the well is about 120 feet deep, sealed to 18 feet at the end of a clay layer (2 to 18 feet deep). A basalt layer begins at 18 feet deep. Dennis said the seal should be deepened to 25 feet. Also, since there is a tank on the system that was installed in September without going through plan review, they will need to submit the info and fee for plan review. ACTION NEEDED: Tom Charbonneau will work with Greg on future requirements. | ||
