| Details: | SUMMARY: Request for assistance with control and alarm system DETAILS: Ch2M-Hill OMI operates a community water system composed of a water filter plant, distribution system, a river pump station, and various storage facilities. Recently, the CWS contacted the circuit rider to request help in evaluating options to add remote alarming capability to the water plant and recommendations for providing better control and alarm controls for the river pumping station. The plant is very old and little or no alarm capability exists. The lack of alarm facilities leaves the system at high risk for water shortages due to equipment failure. Jeff Houchin, the operator, and I toured the facilities and discussed options for improvement. I reviewed an improvement plan with Jeff that is being considered by the governing board. We visited the river pump station and assessed the site for improved telemetry. I provided a report to the CWS which describes possible upgrades to the system. The report included budgetary estimates. ACTION NEEDED: Answer questions generated by the report. | ||
