Details: SUMMARY: complaint about water DETAILS: Spoke with Willy today on phone about a complaint we received today from a resident of Lowells drinking water. The complaintant and her children were having symptoms of vomiting, diarrhea, cramps and nausea. She said that whenever she uses bottled water the symptoms seem to disapear. Willy didnt know of any problems with the treatment plant or any other reasons why she and her kids might be getting ill. Willy volunteered to visit the home and take a chlorine residual level reading and possibly a coliform sample. He visited the home within a half hour and got a .77 mg/L reading of chlorine residual, but didnt want to take a coliform sample because of the very dirty conditions of the home. Willy said the home was in horrendous condition with garbage all over the inside of the home and children with dirty diapers running around. The father was changing a diaper on the kitchen table and Willy was concerned that he would get a coliform positive result just by opening the bottle inside the home. I told Willy Karen Kelley would be in Monday to talk with him further. ACTION NEEDED: Possibly take a coliform sample from the home. Will discuss issue with Karen on Monday.
