| Details: | SUMMARY: Intrusion in Reservoir DETAILS: I received a call today from Brian Stahl, Gresham Water Division Manager. Last night they had an intrusion alarm in the hatch at the Grant Butte reservoir (10 Million Gallon reservoir, about half full). the hatch was not opened at that time. Today at 10:30 am they got another intrusion alarm, and this time a couple teenagers breached the hatch. they were caught and are being questioned by police. Apparently they lowered a paint can into the water. There had been some liquid in the paint can, which they spread on the top of the reservoir. Brian suspects it is a latex paint. the paint can was lowered into the reservoir. it may be still in the reservoir or they may have thrown it into the bushes. it has not been found yet, but the lid was found in the tank. the reservoir was isolated at 12:30 pm today. they are planning to take VOC and bacti samples from 2 lines coming off the tank. they will check to make sure that that water is from the reservoir after the incident occurred. THey will also collect a VOC sample directly from the tank. Chlorine residuals are normal, they will check their SCADA records for any dip in residuals. ACTION NEEDED: Brian will keep us posted on any new information regarding the incident. |
