| Details: | SUMMARY: 4 positive total coliform routine samples DETAILS: Jeff Chastain called me to report that 4 out of 5 of his follow-up routine samples were present for total coliform. The well was not sampled. He had already shock chlorinated the system before these samples. He does not know what the cause could be, as there are no cross connections or leaks that he knows of, there is no standing surface water near the well although there is runoff that flows near the well on the slope that may flow through the horse area upstream, the well appears to be constructed properly, and the wellhead is watertight. Jeff is going to try shock chlorinating again, possibly trying to mix the chlorine in the well before sending it through the pipes this time, and take more samples including at the well. Jeff will continue to post public notice and take 5 routine samples in November. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of the follow-up samples after disinfecting. | ||
