| Details: | SUMMARY: TC+. Repeats negative. Will do 5 routines in December DETAILS: Dave says that the likely cause of the TC+ was a combination of a rookie sample collector from the lab and the fact they are taking the sample from a freeze-protected yard hydrant. Pete told Dave that despite of the long-standing nature of the sample site without incident, he should consider eliminating the hydrant from his Coliform Sampling Plan. Hydrants with freeze protection need to be flushed even more thoroughly to avoid false positive coliforms. The dead space in the hydrant and the large opening on the face of the hydrant provide more opportunity for coliforms to develop. Pete and Dave also reviewed his past violations ACTION NEEDED: Dave will take 5 routines in December to avoid the type of violations he recd in Sept and October. Dave will call the lab to assure better sampling service in the future. (Dave was relying on the lab to know to take repeats after the August TC+.) |
