Assistance Type: WATER QUALITY ALERT RESPONSE
Reasons: SOCs
N/A

Details: SUMMARY: 2,4-D Detection DETAILS: Pete received an alert in February 2008 for a September 2007 SOC sample. 0.6 ppb of 2,4-D was detected at Lake Oswegos entry point (MCL = 70 ppb).

Kari is diligently looking into the potential sources of the contaminant by checking the rivers activities at the time of the sample, checking with Kurt Carpenter of USGS, and checking how the land is managed around the new entry point sample site. ACTION NEEDED: Quarterly sampling for 2,4-D for 1 year (2008).
Assuming quarterly sampling is Reliably & Consistently below the MCL, WS then proceeds to annual sampling for 2,4-D (during the first rain events in Autumn) for 3 years.
Then, presumably, 2,4-D returns to triennial sampling.

Associated Alerts: CHEM2857 - 02/21/2008 - 2,4-D
